Custom made pair of earrings for LAANE's 2025 Women for a New Los Angeles: Architects of Our Future Luncheon, an event that celebrates women’s leadership.
To achieve the watercolor effect, I start off with a conditioned white base. The white base helps highlight the green and magenta colors that are hand-painted on top. Once dry, we lay a very thin piece of translucent clay on top of the painted white base to protect the paint. The slab is inserted into a Lucy Clay machine to produce a paper thin sheet of clay, that is then ripped into small pieces and placed on a new base to make the final slab. Shapes are cut out from the final slab using my collection of shape cutters.
